So do I.
Really tough question... Although I don't listen to that band that much now, pretty rarely actually, I'd say the Pixies, short lived American indie rock band (active roughly between 1987-92). They got together again, but the magic has gone (and sadly I'm 25 years older too).
The other 'bit' of the Beta Band - when they split - went on to be The Aliens. If you are not familiar check them out. The first two albums are superb. Steve Mason has done some great solo work but unfortunately I think they were better together. As I type this there is a poster on the wall next to me for the Beta Band gig at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on the 24th of August 2004. The day they split up! The gig never happened. Damn. That close. I.
Well done sir! All the jealousyKim was scary and beautiful all at the same time - a proper force of nature. I only saw the Pixies a couple of times, but they were memorable gigs (even the second, which was much later, after they'd re-formed).
I was at the same gig. It started snowing when we left the gig and I stopped at a friend of a friend's place....with no heating. One of the coldest nights of my life. It was worth it though.
Funny how I can remember that far back but I struggle to remember what I did 5 minutes ago.
Indeed mate - memory - yes. You can remember your first day at school but not what you had for lunch. This thread has been great for me, in terms of resuscitating memories of gigs I've been to but forgotten. For instance - Karl Wallinger fronting World Party at the Garage in Glasgow, just after he left the Waterboys. Might it be the Woodstock principle? If you can remember you weren't really there. I
...and when American bands grow up they wannabe Led Zeppelin.Look'a here - when English bands grow up they what to be Lynyrd Skynyrd or the Allman Brothers.
Praise the Lord, brother. Couldn't agree with you more. Meanwhile I got a boat race to watch. Those American boys in the Cambridge boat are gone'a whip up on Oxford. Oh, and the South shall rise again!...and when American bands grow up they wannabe Led Zeppelin.
