They don't have a shopFirst of I'd like to say that I have no links to ES who are less than hours drive away from me but I haven't visited they're shop yet . I understand and appreciate that they are a small business that won't always be able to compete on price as they won't have the buying power of large company's . But what they can do is support you with knowledge built up from years of trading in this market
I personally would rather pay a few quid more and support a local company that pays they're tax in GB than a certain organisation that has a pi@@ poor record of employment rights and an even worse record of avoiding paying money into our tax system
However it's everyone's right to choice where they hit the button and spend they're cash
I'm sure there are people that buy them, some people don't shop around and have no idea those prices are daylight robbery.Yeah their DE blade prices are bonkers.
I got an email off them the other day about saving money by bulk buying blades. There was a link to 100 blades (Gillette Silver Blue). They were asking £60 for them (they were £70).
I've bought the identical blades and amounts for £13 elsewhere.
Other things I have bought from them have been reasonably priced or as cheap as everywhere else. I've never used their customer service, but I have heard great things about it.
Off course it makes sence to support your local businesses. if we don't then our little specialised shops will be no more.I still shop for price, if I can get a item cheaper elsewhere then I will buy that. I feel no affiliation towards a company that is close at hand but a lot more expensive, that does not make sense at all.
Very true. While ES do have a wide range of shaving products, some other sites, Shave Lounge who are sorely missed, do appear to be somewhat more competitive. Having said that though can not fault ESCcustomer service and Brian's knowledge on shaving bits and piecesThat's exactly why I don't check their website when shopping for anything shave related.
I miss Shave Lounge, they were the best, fair prices and fantastic service.
well bob i sort of sympathise with what your saying however i also have a huge megastore 10 minutes from my house and it generally sells nothing i want.We have two local fishing shops and a massive superstore type, the prices in the small shops are way more than the large shop and they seldom stock enough so always have to go elsewhere, the big shop seldom runs out of stock and is Always cheaper, it makes sense to me to go where you are guaranteed to get your bait and at a better price.
They probably closed when everyone else went to the mega store, same thing with small grocers and butchers when Asda and Tesco came along, people want more choice at less cost...and that's what the big stores offerwell bob i sort of sympathise with what your saying however i also have a huge megastore 10 minutes from my house and it generally sells nothing i want.
unfortunately i have no local shops now as the big boy put them out of business then upped their prices
I do agree in part however once they have the monopoly the prices go up and there's not a thing we can do about it. Most of my fishing these days is LRF and most in the uk don't deal with the high end stuff I want is most I have to order from JapanThey probably closed when everyone else went to the mega store, same thing with small grocers and butchers when Asda and Tesco came along, people want more choice at less cost...and that's what the big stores offer
