I have just my most successful straight shave so far!
Started with a hot towel for a couple of minutes.
Lather consisted of palmolive cream with palm extract worked so that it was not too thick or too watery (think that was key).
Used the J A Hellberg that i got from Neil, that is one sweet razor! I have a dovo blade aswell but cut myself a few times with it (will give that a rest for a while).
Only had one pass WTG but did go ATG on the neck a little as i found the left side still very awkward as i am right handed.
Took it fairly slow and re-applied lather every so often as it was beginning to dry out on my face. Upper lip was a little jittery as i was pretty nervous.
Finnished of with a drop of witch hazel which is pretty good but still have a little irritation.
Altogether i am really pleased that i have stuck with it as i was ready to give up at one point.
