Too right.

I was in my twenties when we went decimal, so I still have a residue of old money, including thruppeny bits. Even if they could be passed off as the new £1, it would be a bit pointless, as they sell for more than a pound anyway.

I'm just wondering when the UK will have an anti-smuggling or money-laundering currency withdrawal, as they've just done in India with the high-value rupee notes, and are about to do in Venezuela with the 100-bolivar.

If we do, then no doubt we'll all be lugging round tons of coins; in which case my EDC will include a large money sack marked "Swag".

My usual carry is,
Knife UK legal
work keys with usb stick and 2mm lead pointer
home keys, sak classic, fire stash, cash stash, 2mm lead pointer, trolly key
dave budd pocket pry bar/spanner gizmo
mini mint tin with plasters, needle and thread, couple 400mg iburprofen
northam saint pocket square (sNot rag)
molskein mini diary, wilikinsons mini screwdriver, rotring 2mm pencil
phone and headphones
wallet
gerber multiplier and lumapower incindio v3 on belt.

there is loads more in my coat pockets, but i'm not listing all that as well!!

Just my sheer nosiness Steve, please excuse, have you ever needed the needle & thread ? At one time on vip escorts I carried a ' housewife ' together with a couple of varying sized embossed uniform buttons just in case. Though fortunately they were never required.

It's all part of a job creation scheme so cunning you could brush your teeth with it. Just imagine how many workers will be required to produce the new tooling at the mint, alter or remove the old £1 coin slot machines, manufacture the replacement vending machines etc. Just got to make the unemployment figures improve. But, ah me, how I shall miss my old £1 cylindrical tube.

a few times, mainly for buttons, once a rip to my trouser leg. but thats in about 8-9 years!!

Excellent I feel strangely nostalgic for the thrupenny bit. We had a few in a bag that I remember playing with as a kid, I like the 5pence coins because they remind me of sixpences.
