Do you agree with this statement...?

I do believe you are correct (to be sold to the general public) there were hospital Stainles steel DE razors produced (US) before the AS-D1. P.

(Olaf Ramussen US Hospital Razor)
It's probably a fair claim to say it's the original high-end DE razor but 'best' is subjective as mentioned earlier.

I've never used one of these. I'll probably come to you good folk to loan me one of these out of curiousity in the early part of next year.

I have not used the Feather Popular so can not comment on that particular razor but I have the Feather Portable which I believe may be simalar and it does not feel like the AS-D2 at all. The feather Portable is not as mild as the AS-D2 IMO . P.

I take everything Harrod's of shaving says with a truck of salt. I've had a few run in's with whoever runs their social media and they always end up deleting their replies to me. There is no such thing as an objective, unbiased dealer... anyone trying to earn money will always suggest their own line first followed by whatever has the highest profit margin.

I bought a 2nd Gen IKON OC in Stainless when I bought my AS-D1 quite a few years ago. Ithink Tradere and Weber were available as well?
Well there you go, you learn something new every day on this forum P.

Edit : The Feather AS-D1 was probably the first MIM stainless steel razor produced, probably ! P.

That's very true, it's all about the bottom line! P.

Well I suppose everyone talks up their own book, but their own branded products (I'm thinking of the Outlaw razor and their own soaps and creams) do seem to get good reviews. And not just on their own website.

Interesting thoughts about the Feather though. Much as I'd like to I just can't pull the trigger at £170 though.

You can buy a used one for half the price if you are patient or place a want to buy on BST.

I love the look of the as-d2 and the Rex ambassador but I can't justify paying the prices when my £60 fatboy and slim are giving me the best shaves of my life. Not sure I agree with the statement but as I haven't tried them I may be wrong.
£60 for a fatboy. Jings! I got one about 10 years ago, perfect for £20! There were bargains galore. Market forces I suppose.
