You buy a brush primarily for the knot (if you're smart). Second: the handle for your preferred ergos, e.g., short, long, round, etc. Lastly, for the aesthetics. Remember, no one from Architectual Digest is coming to film you shave.
That said, all the YaQi synthetitic knots are first in class. YMMV.
Aesthetics are partially dictated by the bathroom boss, I was told no garish colours allowedYou buy a brush primarily for the knot (if you're smart). ...shall I go for Yellow 22mm Kashmere or maybe a Ferrari red (what is rough complex?!) Kashmere?...
' Combing the Knap' can I seek clarity on this? What do you mean and use.I wax & wane between a Tuxedo and a Cashmere and still at times use a SynBad (Mew Brown) depending on beard growth. I also have a 26mm A.P. Shave Co. SilkSmoke set deeper than normal that requires more than normal effort to splay for multi-day beard growth. I guess I use my synth brushes like an assortment of golf clubs for different situations. I only wish I had known about combing the knap after each usage long ago so as to prevent the "doughnut" effect. I do that with new ones and it prevents it. The old ones are too far gone I fear.
