Salicylic acid is especially helpful in treating acne because of its ability to penetrate the follicle. It encourages the shedding of dead skin cells from within the follicle, helping keep the pores clear of cellular debris.
Sounds like it would work as a wash or preshave.

Dotandcom said:I use it, but I've never suffered from ingrown hairs so I'm afraid I can't help with that. What I will say is that it is an excellent moisturiser and post-shave soother, especially good if over-enthusiasm or carelessness leaves you with razor burn. It is a light, almost translucent balm that seems to 'glide' onto the skin and is readily absorbed. No need to rub it in, which is good news if your skin is irritated. A little goes a long way. It has no scent, so will be very different in that respect to Roger & Gallet products. We all have our opinions on what constitutes expensive: I would put it towards the expensive end of a spectrum that starts with products that cost just £2 or £3.
I also use Dermalogica moisturiser, which provides SP15. It, too, is not cheap. But it is very good.
Hope that helps a bit.
All the best,
Chris
