Just shave over it and over time it will disappear, how many uses......how long is a peice of string? It depends on many factors, it could be from one shave up to ten! When the blade starts to feel uncomfortable and is not cutting as well that is the time to replace, so if with a particular blade it needs changing at shave four change after the third shave. You will find different blades last longer than others.Guys, your help and advice has been brilliant.
I've now watched a few videos online and the first thing I realized is that I wasn't making a lather with the soap properly, I was just swiping the brush across the soap and wiping that onto my face! So I have to work on that.
The second thing I noticed was the angle that I have been holding the razor. I have been holding it with the handle not far off parallel to my face, then using pressure the make contact with the blade, then dragging it across my face, hence the problems. I now hold the handle perpendicular to my face and lower the handle to try and achieve a 30 degree with the blade to face, the with no pressure, move it with the grain, across my lathered face. I have to say, I find it a bit hard to shave under my nose like that!
Now I have another question, I have on my neck a small bump, I don't know if it's a pimple or a small mole, but every time I shave over it, I cut the top off of it. I can't see how to get around it unless I don't shave that area at all, but that will leave me a tuft of hair on the side of my neck!
How many shaves can you reasonable expect from one blade?
Thanks.
Brian.

I only use a blade two or three times before I change it but you may find different. We are all different,. P.
Your welcome. Thanks PF, I've got it now.. cheers.
Here's my 2 bobs worth of advice.
Firstly your choice of razor is excellent..the Gillette tech is a wonderful little razor,...
...i've trained my mind to shave "the lather from my face, rather than the stubble",...
Success, I have followed your excellent advice and todays shave, I have to say was a success. No cuts, no nicks and minimal razor burn, although I did only go wtg, but I think it's a good start point and one I can hopefully improve upon.
I'm so chuffed with myself, I have treated myself to some BBA post shave balm using Emma's excellent offer.
Thanks guys..
Brian.
Three good blades, stick with them, to find three blades that work for you early on is good news. P.My first post so be gentle
I'm a relatively newbie DE shaver and have tried numerous blades, my three favourite are
Personna - Just had the best shaves with these, smooth no nicks etc
Gillette Silver Blue - Good decent shaves, as good as the Personna IMO
Astra Blades - Very good blades
Didn't like the Feather or Derby Blades
Good progress but don't focus too much on the razor handle. You only need to manipulate the razor with the lightest touch and balance is more important in that respect. Good lather is a very important element to a good shave so keep working on that and easy multiple passes will follow.Success, I have followed your excellent advice and todays shave, I have to say was a success. They are sharp blades, seven passes with no irritation and stubble still left would point towards you not having the correct angle on your razor therfore not cutting properly.......or it may just be you had a dud blade, it does happen from time to time. Try another Voskhod blade in the same razor and see if you get the same results.I received the sampler packs of blades I ordered and shaved tonight with Voskhod teflon coated blades, but its left me confused.
I had to have seven passes with the razor to get most of the stubble off and even now I can feel some odd bits of stubble. But I had no cuts and no razor burn at all, however I think I would have needed a few more passes to remove all the stubble!
So is this result telling me the blade was not sharp enough?
