So on the 25th June I ordered an Ambrose custom strop from Texas, size 2x24 strop with a plain end. This has the look of traditional and tall and slender strop that they used back in the day. A work of craftsmanship by a true artisan.
When I opened the parcel and picked up the Ambrose strop - the first word that came to mind was SUBLIME! The quality and the thickness of the leather is outstanding - the hardware is of the highest quality. The linen backing is superb too. This strop is a work of art - so much so that I kind'a want to buy another to keep - although I am sure this one will last me along time. Finally something to match the care and attention I give my own blades!
I have attached some pictures. Although it at a glance is an expensive piece, when you handle the real thing, you realize it is worth every penny and more.
