The country where I grew up didn't have television. When I arrived in London I immediately switched on the telie in my hotel room and being mesmerised by the Ken Dodd show.A time before day time TV!
Sorry if this has already been mentioned.P.
Yes, a very good one there! When people could speak freely.... before politically correctness took over.....
....Try,...under 70p a GALLON!....
I have no idea what that key was for.The purpose of the @ key on a typewriter.

I must admit I have no idea what that key was for on a typewriter, I'm sure I'm not alone! The purpose of the @ key on a typewriter.
You never stop learning! It was generally used for bills/receipts, to indicate the cost of a single item, where several have been supplied. e.g.
4 lightbulbs @ 56p......£2.24
It literally meant 'at a cost of'.
"BLACKMASS TO RECEPTION, PLEASE,....CUSTOMER WAITING!".......Why capital letters are referred to as 'upper case', and non-capitals as 'lower case'.
Afternoon to any printers out there!

Ahhh ... but my native language is not English
We used: 4 gloeilampen à 50ct ... f 2,--
I don't know what the @ sign would be needed for in Dutch.

Actually no, not on a real typewriter keyboard. We did have the § and ƒ Keys though.Does the @ key appear on a Dutch typewriter?
