Can an SE blade be sharpened?

SE blades seem alot sturdier made and more robust than standard DE blades. Can they be sharpened in anyway, or are they just as disposable as DE ones?

Quite a few of the old razors had stropping arrangements either as part of the razor or separate pieces. The Valet auto strop came with a leather strop whereas the Ever Ready Streamline has a separate stropping machine but both work on exactly the same principle. I have a Heljestrand 7 day set that comes with hollow ground blades that are designed to be sharpened on a hone and stropped before use. The Wilkinson Empire (?) is similar.

I tried a limited experiment of using an old carbon Gem and stropped it - it was marginally better but not as good as a modern blade. Given that you can get quite a few good quality shaves from a modern Gem, you have to consider whether it's worth the effort of stretching the use by stropping.
