A great thread, I’m looking for a 1st quarter, (March) 1978. So a Gillette Black Beauty, black handled super speed maybe or 3 piece tech? Or any other makes out there?
The BB code I think you need is Y1. My Super Adjustable, which is the plastic baseplate model, is Y4 i.e. last quarter 1978. Everything else I've got that's dateable is earlier than '78. The Gillette dating method for razors from about 1951 onwards is reasonably easy to find and follow, but most other makes, if they can indeed be dated, are usually to a year or a range of years, and I can't offhand think of any made in the late 70's that can be pinned down to a quarter.

Thanks I had looked into it and thought it was Y1 but I’ve not had much luck so far! Will keep hunting!

Mine would be a U2 (second quarter 1974) which ironically was my favourite band growing up. T’would either be a Super Adjustable, Black Handled Superspeed or a Knack I think. Gave up on it a while ago…
@Gairdner , Still Haven't Found What You're Looking For? (Oh come on, it had to be done :ROFLMAO:) Turns out you may have been premature giving up on acquiring that U2 razor. I have my Gillette Slim Twist - pictured below - which I'm willing to sell, or possibly trade. Mechanism works fine, handle in decent nick, shaves well. Let me know if it's of interest....

Sorry @Jester but it’s not for me. I prefer the non-plastic models although it was jolly kind of you to offer it to me. More to the point, I’m skint as a bairn’s knee!

Anyhoo, is it not a Knack?

Ta muckle,
Graeme
@Gairdner i believe Knack was the US name for this razor (Slim Twist in UK) although I am happy to be corrected. Still, I got a U2 joke in so worth posting
