Best starter SE - Leaf twig?

Thinking of dipping my toe's into SE's.

Is the leaf twig probably my best friend? Seems to be the general consensus on this forum!

For what it's worth I primarily use a Henson DE with Nacet's or Euromax's which works great.

I'm open to all options.

I have used the leaf Twig, RazoRock Hawk version 2 and Occams Oren.
The latter two are the thicker and longer Artist style blades so may not be what you're looking for as you mentioned the Twig, but these types of blades are common when referring to SE blades. If you're sure you're not interested in these then skip to my last paragraph!

The Oren is the best performer in my opinion. It has a paperclip shaped handle which is a little short and you have to screw on the heads, but there are three of them with differing blade gaps.

The Hawk was nicely weight balanced and handle long enough but far too aggressive for me even with very light touches. I have sensitive skin but could only get sunburn levels of irritation

The Leaf Twig is easy to use but a little mild. I often use the second half of a half-DE blade underneath to act as a shim. This might be mad but seems to work for me.
If you want to borrow it send me a PM. I'll include some Permasharp and Derby blades.

If you want to keep using DE blades (halved), then the Twig and Parker's Solo Edge are well regarded.

However, you wouldn't be getting the benefit of using thicker, rigid-by-nature blades like injector, GEM or Artist Club blades.

A GEM 1912 is an really nice shaver and can be usually had pretty cheaply (though you might need to clean and sanitise it).#

An injector razor can be had for not much money, and there have been a few NOS floating on eBay recently.

Yaqi has a zamak Excalibur that would let you dip your toes in at a pretty low cost.

What did you get in the end?
I've been using the Leaf Twig again for the last week and in fairness it's superb!

This. I reçommend a vintage Schick G Model as they are plentiful (any type) and I will be intellectually honest in that no DE shaves as well nor as intuitively as a classic Schick injector IMO. As an added bonus they can be had cheap.
