What you need to do is get a blade selection pack because what may work for me in any of the given razors may not work for you. I can say Nancets, rubies, Perma sharp and polsilvers are good blades to try in your razors. P.I've got 3 double edge razors, and for each of them I use a different blade.
The best blade for one is not the best blade for another, but there are many blades I haven't tried.
Personally, my beard is quite tough and this is what I use ...
Parker Variant Adjustable - best blade = Derby Premium - excellent combination
Edwin Jagger DE89 - best blade = Astra Superior Platinum - ok combination
Parker Connaught 60R - best blade = Feather - ok combination
The Parker Variant Adjustable with the Derby Premium feels far superior to the other two combinations. That's not necessarily because of the adjustment, but probably because it is very solid - it holds the blade firmly. That's the way I see it.
I'm not planning to buy any more razors, but I'm happy to try different blades if people think there is a blade that works better with any of the 3 razors above.
There must be some blades that work better ... please let me know if you have found something that works really well
I find the complete opposite with the Astra in the DE89, absolutely awful. I find a Pol Silver works in anything.
As others have said get a sampler pack, possibly consider a wider selection than usual. www.razorbladesclub.com has a massive selection of blades.

Still? They have been "discontinued soon" since 2016... at least...Unfortunately, it appears the Polsilver Super Iridium is being discontinued so I'll still need to find something else (probably).
