Nothing wrong with starting off with a 38C, I did. Ideal for getting in to the mindset of no pressure other than the weight of the razor on your face. Whether you buy the 34 or 38C, just make sure you bin that Merkur blade that will come with it and get yourself a blade sampler from Paul (at Connaught).
Badger and Hone have just made a new website, the 34C might not be on there yet.
