A couple of months ago, we cut down some cherry laurel bushes in our garden. I rough-turned some pieces of wet wood, and today, I took one of those rough-turned pieces of wood and turned it into a brush handle. It has only a single coat of linseed oil, so it still needs a couple of coats of varnish, and the knot isn't set yet, but you can get an idea of how it will end up...

The knot is your usual 21mm Henk?

Also, the loft could be a bit longer or is it best as is?

Yep, standard knot. I think the loft is fine as it is (handle is a bit largish, so the knot looks smaller than it is), but is probably is just a little bit choked. I will experiment with loft once the handle is ready though.

Very impressive ... books, not. Handle looks great Henk! A little like a chess player, nicely done!!

Chess piece was the first thought that came to my mind b

Nice looking piece of wood Henk , but will it stay that shape and will that little knot check behave itself :?:
regards, beejay

I'm not too concerned about the shape, most of the warping has (I think...) already occurred, and the wood was dry on turning. That knot moight pose a problem. Time will tell...
