Bargains

Oh well i gave in and purchased 100 of the KCG blades from Amazon ... if they don't work out for me then it's only £10 and i have been keen to try some flavour of Gillette Platinums for a while now, to see how they compare to my beloved Russian Astra SP.

Prime Delivery is not until 23 January !!. It could be Amazons Christmas delivery algorithms spinning everything around, so it's entirely possible that delivery date will be reduced in a few days.

Mine are not arriving until January the 26th.
TBH I never looked until I read your post.
I did save a little more because I subscribed.

Chinese KCG are reputed to be the Gillette Super Thin Platinum which is considerably sharper than their flagship (Russian) Platinum.
 
I've noticed the Chinese Gillette Super Blue razors are no longer available on AliExpress etc. maybe they've stopped making them? end of an era?

I'll try to source a couple more to have as backups for traveling. they work very well on a heavier handle instead of the plastic one.

I've noticed that some razors that are available on AliExpress are unavailable for UK.
There's Gillette Super Blue and one a Colorlamb razor I fancied that aren't available when I'm in the UK, but show as available when I'm in continental Europe.

Are they a smooth blade generally ? I would ideally find a blade nearly as sharp as BIC Chrome / Feather, but with the mild smoothness of the Russian Astras.

The tuck of Russian KCG i got with the KCG razor were certainly a lovely balance of sharp and smooth, plus they were good for several shaves which was a happy bonus. I have 2 of these blades left, so will do a comparison with the Chinese version when they arrive.
 
My 100 KCG blades have just arrived from Amazon. The blades themselves are in cheap looking white tucks of 10 with just the KCG logo and a barcode. The 10 tucks are in slots in a ludicrously oversized cardboard box (image lifted from an Amazon review, but identical to what i received.

Manufactured in China and outer box wrap dated 09 25

Anyhoo, will give them a go tomorrow on 2 days growth and once i have had 2 or 3 shaves with them, i shall compare and contrast to one of the 3 Russian KCG blades that i have left from when i bought the razor in 2024

I wanted to buy 100 KCG before the new year but, just as I was to buy them, they went Temporarily out of stock. Still like that now. I won't buy when they come back in stock because I made myself a restraint promise, plus I have too many blades. I'm a sucker for a bargain. I hope they are good blades for you.
