Take note of the 14 step shave process
Also notice how he stetches the skin away the adam's apple. Don't shave over it but instead stretch the skin away from the apple. This helped me out greatly when I started shaving. It's very concise and methodical. No unnecessary strokes.
I know shaving is about taking ones time but what used to be 40-45 minute process is now cut down to 3-5 minutes. I switch from right to left hand because its more effective this way. Of course as Barber one could use either hand and be as effective. It's entirely different for oneself.
If I shave entirely with either right or left hands I have to be cognizant of the stretching hand moving or hitting the shaving hand. At least using either is more effective and seamless. At least in my experience anyway.
