Way to go....
I love to do a bit of cycling.... Less impact stress on the knees.
Also download the Strava app.... (Or equivalent) and let others friends follow you to give you some thumbs up..... Helps to motivate you.
Well Done & fair play to you.I used to be young and very fit. I'm now older, very unfit and carrying too much weight.
A long time ago I used to swim 20 consecutive lengths during my lunch break and still have time to comfortably eat my sandwiches, I also completed a 10 mile fun run in a little over 100 mins.
Nowadays a brisk walk up my stairs dramatically increases my heart rate and leaves me breathing quite hard. I have very little energy or motivation to do the things I used to enjoy and I recently struggled to swim seven lengths with breaks in between.
On Monday this week I started the journey back to a fiitter me with a 15min walk on the treadmill, Tuesday 20mins and yesterday 40mins.
Some research via Youtube introduced me to the "Couch to 5Km" program. Which has inspired me to make some changes, I can't get any younger but I can get some of that fitness back.
As I'm starting from such a poor level of fitness, my plan is to continue with the walking until the end of May and then start an 8-!0 week training plan with a target of doing a 5Km run on or before the 6th Aug. The stretch target is to do it under 30mins.
I have some cheap running shoes and socks on the way, while I get fit enough to run, then I'll be off to the local Runners shop for a "gait analysis" and will invest in the correct running shoes. I also have a fitness tracker type watch on order, so I can monitor my progress and add some science to my training in a bid to maximise my effort.
That's brilliant.... What diet are you following?Well Done & fair play to you.
Enjoy the journey & don’t get stressed with it or it will soon become a bind.
The secret to a healthy life is enjoying it.
Good Luck i’ll keep an eye on your updates.
I’m actually in a similar position
i went on a so called diet 2 months ago & iv lost 3.5 stone.
That’s without exercise as iv been flat out at work i haven’t had the chance or should i say iv just not got that motivation yet.
i won’t be hard on myself it’s a bit of both to be fair but i really should make the effort

I don’t really follow any particular dietThat's brilliant.... What diet are you following?
That’s class your actually making the effort i think sometimes getting the head in the game is the hardest part.Congrats on the weight loss.
I don't have any plans at the moment for a diet. I'm hoping that the starting to exercise will be enough.
I'm not overly concerned about my weight, I just want to lose the wobbly bits and get back into some of my old clothes.
For the record though, I'm currently:
18st 8lbs
48" moobs
49.5" round the belly
47" where my waist used to be
47.5 hip/butt area

I remember hitting over 19 stone a few months ago
today i was 15st 9lb.
It’s actually been very easy.
With me working abroad a lot it can mess with your head & give you zero motivation but i need to get my head around that one
Well done. Two years ago I stepped on the scales and I was almost 17st. I felt very unhealthy, left knee aching all the time, getting out of breath, and would eat whatever I felt like eating at all times of the day.
Decided I needed to make a change. I'm now at a healthy 11st, in the best shape of my life. The best change I made was starting intermittent fasting, I mainly do 16/8. There is lots of information about it online and there are some useful apps to make it easier to follow. I've recommended it to a few people now and they have had good results.
I also do some cycling and a little resistance training. And have just started doing yoga.
If anyone would be interested in trying intermittent fasting. I could send some links to online information regarding it and tell you what app I personally use.
Kind Regards
Callum
