how do i shrink my avatar so it'll fit on here?

i realise this is a stupid question as i'm sitting here alone with no real idea how computers work-DOH!
 
I use a free prog called irfanview.

If you install it, open the picture up go to 'Image' (in menu at top) select 'Resize/Resample' then input the size you want in the box.The maximum avatar size here is 125x125 pixels.
Then save the file and upload as normal.

i've shrunk and saved the picture to 125 x 81

but it still won't upload?
 
strange, can you post it up here or email it to me?

What type of image can be used for the avatar? It wont accept jpeg, bitmap, any ideas not sure how to do this, I have resized but cant find a file type that is acceptable.

Jpg should be fine, 125x125 pixels and under 100kb in size I think.
 
If anyone is still having problems with avatars please email me and attach the pic.I will send it back ready to upload.

If using Win XP search Micsft for a power tool (can't remember name), is free and great but does not work on Vista.
In Vista I go into my photos and right click and I have the option to resize enter 125 as pixel size.
