Aristocrat Jr plating

Hi all,

I have had this question lurking at the back of my head for some time, so here it is:

The item is an aristocrat Jr, and the color is a little darker than stainless steel. It must be the platings color, because at the central stem there is a bit of plating loss revealing the brass core.

I have tried polishing is, but the color remains the same.

What plating is this?

Is it a dark matt grey? I have an AJ flat plate that looks like it's been camo'ed in battleship grey and it wont brighten up no matter what.

It's Like that yes. Do you know what plating?

I doubt it's anything more than nickel plating that's just oxidized for some reason.

I didn't like it at first but I've grown to like it because of it's industrial feel.

Let's call it that special nickel matt plating Gillette only tried on two AJ's.
