The newest knot in the APShaveCo collection - the SynBad knot! I had two goals with this knot 1) getting the closest imitation to badger in appearance yet and 2) providing consumers with a knot that had a great splay. This knot solves the problem many have with the Tuxedo not being able to splay easy, and its the most beautiful knot in my collection. The tips are on par with the cashmere, the splay is one of the best out of all my knots, and the backbone is a bit less than that of the tuxedo (enough for easier splay)
Softer tips for certain, a fraction more backbone, but I suspect this could be down to that often overlooked variable called densitySeanc, how does this stack up.against the black fiber synthetic such as sold by Maggard?
I have that exact brush in 24mm. It's a good solid performer, although note that the handles being moulded they don't have the clean cut lines that turned ones haveReally liking the look of the AP SilkSmoke with faux marble white handle. Would be a nice change from my 3 black synth handles.
I traded into a YaQi "mew brown" which is the same knot and after usage I have to agree that this knot is the "bee's knees" and does everything just right. I am not so sure that a "fan" or "flat top" version would be better, but I am open minded. At this point it is the best synthetic knot that I have personally used. It's incredible how far synthetics have come in the four years that I have been using one.
Cant speak for the APShaveCo knots Chris but the Yaqi Mew knots vary from brush to brush. I bought a 'Purple haze' which arrived with no glue bump (superb performance on this one) and later ordered a 'Moka express' with the same knot, but this one arrived with a 10mm+ glue bump which made it practically unusable... I complained and received a full refund plus a discount on my next order so the risk is very minimal overall.
