Advice on purchasing authentic straight razor

Hi
For your first straight razor I would suggest either a 'shave ready' gold dollar or a vintage 'shave ready'.Either one can be purchased from a reputable seller on ebay or someone on here might have one.
Either of these razors will be a good introduction to straight razors that won't cost you much £ & in time you can upgrade if you want to.
All you need then is a strop.
You wouldn't need to spend anymore than about £40.
The razor must be SHAVE READY though. So be careful who you buy it from.Further advise will be offered here should you need it.
Cheers,Jack.

For What its Worth I Would Probably Avoid that Vendor like the Plague..That is Not a Specialist SR Vendor to Say the Least & those SRs he is Selling are Largely Cheap Imports or Brands not Well Known..You Cant Go Wrong with a Current Dovo..You May need to get it Honed Mind..Some People Hold the Revisor in High Regard & they Come Shave Ready as far as I Know..That Said Most Brand New SRs Sold as Shave Ready Can be Improved on the Hone Unless it has Come from a Vendor that has Honed them when they Come from the Factory..

A Shave Ready Gold Dollar or Shave Ready Vintage SR is a Viable Option as Well from Trusted Vendors from EBay..

Got the Titan red oak from China, I think it was about 20 pounds, maybe a bit less, including a basic strop and some paste, proved shave ready after stropping, so lucky in the buy inexpensive from China lottery this time, been using it for 10 weeks finding it a good starter kit to get a taste of straight razor shaving, low key, chunky, heavy, yes but for me as a newbie it was easier to use compared to my other more fancy straight razors Revisor et al that come with bragging rights.

Beautifully shave ready razors, incredible value on your kit, should you need it and a thoroughly decent bloke.
I can't recommend him highly enough eg he sent me a dubl duck with blue acrylic scales. I emailed him saying that I didn't like the scales, because I'd been after a traditional looking razor. He offered to rescale for free. I paid him for his trouble, even though he didn't ask. (Sight unseen razor, see the website for clarity.)
He's in America but I can't find anything like him anywhere else.
