There are a few acronyms for shave quality around. BBS and DFS are the most often used, but there are others in use.

What is lacking, is a definition. BBS, baby bum smooth, seems to be 'no perceptible stubble even when rubbing a cotton wool pad against the grain' or some other yardstick to the same effect. So, pretty much as close to perfection or zero feel. But where do you draw the line between that and DFS (damn fine shave) or indeed "DFS+" - is there some magic formula, like "rub a pair of 40 Denier panty hose on your chin (try not to get caught!) and it's DFS if they don't ladder"? And what is CCS? "Can't complain smooth?" What is that? Do we need a stubbleometer? It'd be interesting to know if there is a consensus about what these terms mean to most people, rather than just what the letters stand for. Food for thought.

I finally found the thread on B&B where they came up with a whole list of comedy abbreviations for closeness of shave. With props to Aimless Wanderer, I've copied this from b+b in case anyone is still wondering what ccs or sas are (like I was).
Still no real definition of the sensible ones, but I think if you work between the sublime and the ridiculous you can kind of figure out where your result lies.

I hope B&B won't cop the hump - after all I have name checked both the forum and user.

WLB = Walking Lint Brush
SAS = Socially Acceptable Shave
CCS = Close Comfortable Shave
DFS = Damn Fine Shave
BBS = Baby Bottom Smooth
EST = Epidermis Seems Thinner
RDA = Rapidly Developing Alumphobia
TFR = Total Face Removal

Just drop it in.
