Not shaving related, but after seeing Darkbulb (I think?) post a pic of one, I was ENABLED!

Rough around the edges, but it's lovely!

Hey, very cool!
So happy you like it!
I love the hand-forged, non-perfect sword-like blade.

I may be enabled by the enabled as I'm after a new knife. Where did you get it?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/183mm-HIGONOKAMI-folding-pocket-Chrome/dp/B0029LH35S/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A3IRXUM1YLB6W1

This is the one I bought, took 2 weeks for delivery - not bad from Japan!
The blade is sharp, not as sharp as I'd like, but easily sorted

That's what make it cool - the little imperfections!

Received a Leresche #34 or #35 (Leresche has that same silliness where the box it's in can determine the name of the razor - and in this case the 34 and 35's are the same razors but named on what box it originally came in).

The razor's head is incredibly clean and without any scratches

The handle looks very good but with some darker spots/areas on it.
All in all a very clean razor.

Here's a side-by-side showing the #34/35 next to my #51.
The #51 (on the bottom of the photo) has a wider and shorter handle compared to the #34/35.

Will be interesting to see how it shaves compared to the 51.

That is a great price, I think I will get one!

This one shows the maker and how the knives are made.
Note that he is the last maker that can make and sell these knives as Higo No Kami. After he is gone the line will unfortunately die.

Here's a link to a Japanese company that I've purchased many knives off through the years and they mark their original prices down heavily so most items I've recieved off them often come straight through without duty, follow the link and scroll down the page there's quite a few HIGONOKAMI folding knives for sale. http://www.japaneseknifedirect.com/Specials.html

Couldn't buy my dodgy American soap from Shaving Station this month, I was going for one a month. So after getting a niff of this I ended up spending next months allotted funds on some Issey Miyake Nuit D'Issey.

Oh I did, thanks though. Problem was I was after Caties Irish Coffee or Soap Commander, and they don't carry Soap Commander and Caties are out of stock. I know a Coffee scent, not everyone's taste, but I like scents like that. Something the "London Suppliers" don't do. I have some Tiki and Cinnamon Bun, big scented and different than the boring "London Soaps".

I am by no means an expert in Japanese knives so do take that into consideration - but it's so confusing to me that a lot of knives are being sold as Higo No Kamis.
However, I can see some on that page you linked to that seems to be by Motoskuke Nagao - so I'd suggest using "Nagao" as search term on that page

Thanks, interesting site!
