AC/ SE Razors - How crucial is weight ?

I have been using AC /SE Razors for 8 Years now, and have tried quite a number of them. Original ones were rather on the heavy side and over the years they have got lighter using aluminium and now titanium.

I started off with an original ES Claymore & Mongoose, then tried others including Aluminium ones, which were not for me. I do get good results with the Spud Peeler - Occams Oren but prefer the large Hiram Commander. I now tend to use a Hawk V3 and Claymore Evo which are medium weight,

Today I used one of my hefty oldies - ATT SE1 with a Kai Pink Blade. Worked a treat exerting little pressure and letting the weight of the Razor do the work. Made me wonder if there really is a need for ultra light Razors when the heavier originals do such a good job.

PS. Had no problem clearing upper lip and nostril area,

It's all very YMMV, I have used lighter razor's and those with a little more weight. Your technique will be a little different depending on how light or heavy the razor is.
I must say I prefer the slightly heavier razors because the weight of the razor does the work for you, you don't have to apply any extra pressure as you may do with a light weight razor.
This being said my personal preference is that the razor weighs no more than 100g but again that's very YMMV.
A very good question though and one that you may want to consider before buying a razor. :)

Always keep the razor in good balance and a comfortable weight in your hand no more than 100g maximum, because, you need to allow the most comfortable smooth balance weight of the razor to do all the cutting with zero pressure throughout your whole shaves.

When the razor become too heavy, your shaving technique goes out of balance, and you'll lead to more nicks, cuts and irritation.
IF, you don't keep your technique and pressure under control.

I just shaved with my brit coronation tech ,which is mostly aluminum(baseplate and handle),compared to a few recent days of using brit aristocrats.many gillettes tend to be head heavy, techs especially with aluminum or hollow brass handles.all are under 100 grams.
..for me the techs require almost 3+ passes instead of 2 + pickups..so i guess the extra weight does make a difference.i use little to no pressure no matter which razor i use, which is a different gillette every day..

Today I dug out my first AC/SE Razor, the ES Claymore V2, weighing in at over 110gms. Fitted with a Kai pink it delivered a very smooth and comfortable Shave, the finish quality was excellent.
