To be honest Chris , I sent mine back already without trying the old or new baseplate , I am down the £45 odd charges and return postage of £12 odd but I could not get the Sabre to shave for me so held little hope of the ATT shaving , the Rocnel is my last shot at a modern Gem razor .Nope. On the first pass wtg I could feel more cutting but not enough, re lathered, 2nd pass wtg, again not enough, another razor would usually have done the hard work by now.
Re lathered for against the grain, this should be down to the wood on this, a couple of strokes and again the razor was down.
Quickly loaded my Gillette Slim to finish, even the Nannys Moroccan Sands could not save this shave, one of my worst in a long time.
Its a thing of beauty to look at but unfortunately I will have to email Stan for a return.
Get a 1912 , you won't be sorry. Or a 1914 but there are more 1912s about in the UK.Agree all round, it definately stings!
There was one on SOTD today so someone is using one. P.Has the ATT bombed, or is someone out there using it with success.
Yup, I find it works jess fine. I get as efficient a shave with both the G1 and with the Saber L1 or L2 plates as I do with my Damaskeene or any of the dozen or so other GEM razors.Has the ATT bombed, or is someone out there using it with success.
I'm pleased you have managed to resolve this issue with the razor and your extra tough beard Mike, it's a shame that it wasn't up to the cutting capacity as your Streamline though! (before the shimming)Further to my earlier post of this Morning, I have had a further Shave with the ATT SE G1 this time with a shim as suggested by Stan at ATT
May not be the final one, but poetically this one made from plastic from box containing 100 Personna / Gem blades. Pleased to say the Razor still smooth with more blade feel, a very nice smooth finish on Cheek ,Lip, Chin and not bad on difficult areas of the neck. My problem with this nicely engineered Razor seem to have been resolved, by a simple solution that I now remember experienced DE Shavers use to perk up milder razors.
I've only found injectors and the Cobra to match the Streamline for efficiency and smoothness.it's a shame that it wasn't up to the cutting capacity as your Streamline though!
If you ever get the Level Two base plate for your Sabre you may find another razor to match the Streamline, I know mine doesI've only found injectors and the Cobra to match the Streamline for efficiency and smoothness.
The R41 and the ATT R2 come close but the DE blade isn't as smooth.
Hopefully in the not too distant futureIf you ever get the Level Two base plate for your Sabre you may find another razor to match the Streamline, I know mine does
