I'm sure such things do happen but i'd like to think the majority of our hard working farmers innocent until proven guilty when it comes to such matters. They are hit by cars all the time here, we've hit two ourselves... Last one cracked the front bumper.
Proper hunting for traditional meat gathering and game management should be encouraged, and taught.
Killing for entertainment or trophy is hard to justify. For centuries hunters have sought the kill the biggest, healthiest, most perfect of examples they could find, leaving lesser specimens to breed future generations. Culling for herd reduction, combined with selective removal of less-than-the-best animals, is a much better approach.
