Use it, small brushes sometimes perform amazingly well, but pure badger might be moppy, looks good! The Knot eventually arrived this morning from Aliexpress
A Boti 18mm Pure Badger.
Not the best Knot in the world but i felt it was more authentic to go with the handle.
I haven’t set it yet as the close up shows me it still needs a quick clean up.
I’m thinking about getting some gold leaf & redefining the letters.
i’m unsure how easy that would be but i think i might give it a go.
Whether i ever use this brush i don’t know.
I’ll definitely give it an outing but at 18mm it would still look small in a kids hand.
Iv got a couple of Rooney’s to do also

I looked in to it a bit & there’s a few vids on you tube.I’m keen to learn about the gold lettering too so keep us updated. I love brush making and restoring threads. The education is fantastic.
Hobby Craft, eh? More cross stitch and needlework. You’ll get that embroidered Hibs badge finished eventually.I looked in to it a bit & there’s a few vids on you tube.
it looks as easy as filling in the gaps & rubbing the surface residue off.
I’m going to go to Hobby Craft at the fort this week & get a bit of advice

Nope, but it sounds interesting.Oh well you’ll know best mate
I’ll see how the first outing goes.
I know best badger isn’t great but just thought i would stick with the theme.
Out of interest have you done the gold leaf lettering ?.
Gold leafing the lettering would be expensive, fella. You need to buy the loose leaf and gold size and I doubt it would that durable nor worth the hassle. Probably better with some gold paint enamel, just dab it on over the letters with a tooth pick/cocktail stick (if your posh) and lightly wipe off the excess with small patches of kitchen roll. The Knot eventually arrived this morning from Aliexpress

I used paint pens for awhile, but I've had some of the paint come off after some use, so I now use Testors enamel model paint in the little teeny bottle. To remove the excess I use 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper to wet sand and then I buff by hand with a wet cloth with toothpaste on it. Vintage shave brushes will melt and smear VERY quickly with any kind of powered tool, that's why I do it by hand, and it's a small thing, so it doesn't take long.
Is yours marked on the bottom? The Knot eventually arrived this morning from Aliexpress
