....Says hello!

Hi, Guys.
Being fed up with using super expensive disposable
plastic razors, I switched to DE shaving around 2018.

My current razor is a slant short handled Merkur.
It's not my only de razor, but seems to the best, so far.
Just need to find a reliable blade for it!I

Trying Gillette Silver Blues from Connaught Shaving
recently ordered, which came this morning; my previous
go to blade was Astra Platinum.

Slowly exploring theshavingroom....
.... & proper wet shaving!

Welcome aboard the good ship TSR, I'm sure you will find a blade to suite you and your razor, try getting a sample blade pack from eBay perhaps .
Happy shaving!

Paul.
So far I've tried:
Astra Platinum, Gilette Silver Blue
Lord Blue Sword, Polar Star Platinum
Boots Bought Wilkinson Sword
Gilette KoS, Treet Platinum
I've had good & bad shaves with all of them....!

Ah, you saying that you've had good and bad shaves with all off them (blades) would point to your technique (shaving) or perhaps with the lather you are producing from your soap, when you get a consistently good lather every time you may see your shaves improving or as I've said it could be your technique with the razor, too much pressure, not the right angle or just going too fast, it could be one of these things because blades will usealy give you bad shaves all the time.....not the blade for you or they will give you good shaves all the time.
Out of interest, what shave soap are you using and is your lather always a consistent one?

Paul.

I'm using an Arko Stick smushed into a mug,
or King of Shaves Foamless Gel Pump
Thanks for your post; interesting!
I would put your pump gel to one side and stick with the Arko and try to get a good creamy lather with he consistency of a thick yogart and see if that helps any.
Good technique + good blade + good lather = a good shave.

Paul.
