I can never, and would never wish to take the experience and elation of that day away from Pete or anyone else that was actually there, I have nothing but envy for all involved.Ahhh Stacy don't pop Peter's baloon, he's probably the only person you know who actually went to this historic event. It is though an utter indictment of the English FA that it still has to be celebrated.
And absolutely no mention of Jim Baxter doing keepie ups down the English wing in 1967. Lol.
I yawn loudly, every time this gets revisited.
Roll on the September and the start of the Paralympic Games, real sporting achievements.
Let's not forget when we won the World Cup we only beat "half"of Germany anyway......
Very good documentary on ITV last night about the day.....I found it interesting to hear from people who played their roles on the day. Like the teenagers who were operating the score board, or the policeman who switch the trophy for a copyWhat's sad is reading some of these remarks.
But I'm still smiling today as I look at some of those 50 year old papers I kept.

Closest the Scots get to winning a world cup is Glasgow celtic winning the European cup. First British team to do so. Even though it pains me to say that. (Glasgow Rangers fan) not quite in the same league as the English world cup win tho.+1
Folk like being contrary - it's "cool", and... ahem... "evolved" (^_-). Embroidered pillows with the words "If you can't say anything nice, say it anyway". There was a lot of nice comment & memories on other forums.
I didn't mean to give any offence (and who the hell am I anyway?), but my natural Scottishness overwhelmed me. It's an amazing day to have been a part of, I'm quite jealous (no comparable Scottish achievements). The fact that you've still got the tickets & papers is astounding. Even better, you're going to pass them on.
