The best after shave balms...

According to this article in The Guardian newspaper in 2017.

I confess, I haven't tried any of those mentioned. Perhaps others have? Some of them look quite expensive. But as one of the comments below the piece observes, "Or Witch Hazel, about £1.50 from Asda."

If your as cheap/frugal/skint as me then try this, 200ml generic witch hazel, 100ml aloe vera gel and 30 drops of tea tree oil, shake together until combined.

Works very well for me.
 
Always had good results with Nivea 0% alcohol. Usually buy it when it's on offer or am gifted some at Christmas with the goo in a can which swmbo uses for her legs. Failing that really enjoy Barts balms.
 
The best I've tried (and I've tried A LOT) for me was Floris. I see they have changed the packaging now, and possibly formula, so can't comment on the new stuff.
But will probably get it and give a go anyway some time soon. It was that good.
 
I never pay much attention to these type of "The Best ..." articles. For some time, Aloe Vera Gel has been the best for me. It's not greasy, absorbs in no time, soothes and tones the skin, and is scent/parfum-free, thereby not interfering with any EDC/EDT/EDP you might want to use. Besides, it's very inexpensive compared to most balms.

Bingo!! Far too many cosmetic cos. operate on pure hype and little if any fact, i.e., total unadulterated, Morocan leather bound, gilded BS.

On another note, the other day I read an article by a dermatologist whereas he recommended to never use a moisturizer as the skin becomes so accustomed to having it slathered on that it decreases normal oil secretion. I buy that to a certain extent.
 
For me I find L'Occitane Cade to be the best for my skin as it does take to something more on the greasy side of things. Also getting pleasurable results from some cheap Nivea.

Not tried Bart's but British Barbers was the buzz on the forum a year ago. I still use it, but it's expensive at £22 a bottle.

I used this with the Pass Around Box and it was really good stuff. As you mention though, I thought it was a bit pricey.
