Strop straightening

Been away from here a long while, but still have bene using a DE religiously - Merkur Futur which is still serving me excellently.

But I've bought an old straight to restore, a hone and an old strop. The hone has been lapped so no issues there however the strop has clearly been stored folded in two and has developed a bend.

I've been doing some reading which suggests a spritz of water on both sides and then some weight will sort it out, followed by some dressing/oil.

Any other pearls of wisdom before I start?

Ive bought back a strop that had dried out to a stiff unflexable and unuseable with
Dressing oil and plenty of time but I've never had to deal with a fold in it.
You have nothing to loose though so good luck, I hope it works for you. P.

I'll take some pictures a little later. There isn't a crease, but its a fairly heavy bend. The leather is fairly pliable at the moment, but probably could do with conditioning.

Because of the attached canvas, I think it may be exaggerating the shape, however if pulled it does mostly sit straight

It should be an easy enough job, oil it and hang it with some weight on the end, check it in a weeks time. :) P.

Neatsfoot oil on the bend, let it sit and soak in for a week before hanging, if after the week it feels supple(ish), give it more nfo all over and hang it without any weight, give that another week, again, repeat with the nfo and see if everything is softening up nicely, if there is still a bend or groove try a 2 oz weight to give it a wee pull, always try very little and over a long time, it can fix a very dry strop doing it right or it can kill it doing it wrong, I sorted a very dry vtg Russia shell strop from something that felt like a stick and would break/snap if I tried to bend it, it is now my go to strop, and has great colour and suppleness, slowly...slowly if you really want to keep it, it will last for many years if done right...or it will end up in the bin if you have no patience....good luck, i'm sure you will pick well, vtg strops are awsome.
