Straight Razor Shave of the Day

Drew Dick 7/8, 1/4 that I got last week. Sandalwood. Looooong shave, like 4 passes. The razor is different to what I'm used to, it's a notch over 3", and has a pointy end. Shaves beautifully very happy with the shave!

Somehow an autumnal feeling, not sure if its in the air or in my head but I needed a treat so I dug out the Wickham Gothic Revival soap and balm and my vintage Fritz Bracht Tennis 5/8 extra hollow round point. I just love the scent of GR. The soap has a strong accent when you're shaving and the balm will do as aftershave, I didn't use any frag on top.

Quite pleased with this, this Myers is a 'clone' to a Bengall, or the other way around. Apparently they operated from the same address so...
It is the first I restored, it had a chip on the cutting edge, so I redid it, giving it a smile to compensate.
It is pretty much one of my best shaver, perhaps the best, as I also like the handling. I redid the edge recently using lapping film, and it's now even better. What started as a 'quick 2 passes' shave turned into a 4 passes!

Success! Well I had to regrind it (as explained in the other thread), finished it on the lapping firm. I had a successful shave. I proceeded very gingerly as I had to remove the grip to work on the edge, but making sure to keep my hands very dry, no problem in the end. I DO like the shorter cutting edge really, it's very nimble.

Wow! Awesome looking...must be an amazing experience to shave with the razor...
Shigeki Tanaka kamisori this morning

Double wow!! What a beautiful looking kamisori...

Drew Dick today. Also trying again that new Yagi brush I got on the B/T subforum. I don't like that brush it looks cool, but I don't get a good lather out of it. In fact, after that picture I took my usual £15 amazon brush and redid the lather and whoof it came up and lovely immediately.

Razor shaves super, HOWEVER I might sell it, it's great and all that, but I feel it's slightly the wrong shape for me, I do like slightly shorter blades and/or a smile. This one is great but there are some cuts where I feel it's a bit too long, or a bit too 'straight' to do that funny pass I made under my neck at an angle, for example...
Still a great shave mind you, very enjoyable, I think I'm 'digging' the 1/4 grind too, no skipping even on the 'hard' bits of my beard!
