Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic
Soap: PAA Speakeasy
Razor: CB Karve Brass (D)
Blade: Nacet (2)
Post: PAA Speakeasy AS & EDP

Overloaded the brush with way too much this morning, even after a ton of water it was paste like, even more water added and finally ended up with a good lather. Could have shaved 3 times over with the amount left. I like the speakeasy scent but I'm finding the soap doesn't hold a lot of it, which I find strange for PAA, but with the AS and EDP to back it up that resolves that easily enough.

Excellent finish with the D plate and the nacet on second use, quite like this blade so not sure why I skipped it for so long.

Good finish and ready for the weekend to roll on, hope everyone has a cracking day!

Cheers

Marc

Prep: Shower, Palmolive Olive Oil Soap
Soap: Figaro
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Razor: Merkur 34C HD
Blade: Gillette Nacet (2)
Post: Bond "Inspired by Whisky" ASL & Balm

The super-sweet scent sensation that is the Figaro/Whisky combo can only mean one thing:

Yeah, that hasn't aged at all:whistle:

The Nacet was smooth as you like on its second outing and the finish was superb. Right, off to see if Bond Whisky balsam is low-carb before I start licking my own face ;)

Fri 4th March

Stirling Syn 26mm
P & B Citra Royale
Yaqi Raster V3
Feather Proguard ( 1 )
Alcolado Glacial A/S splash

Two days growth and no problems with this Razor coupled with a new blade. Judging by my recent Shaves with this and The Raster V2, Blade performance tails off after 6 uses. Today was good and a nice close all round finish was attained.

Tell us more ...
Well Paul, it's completely your fault as I was inspired by your homemade Bay Rum threads to make my first brew back in 2017, using Rum and alcohol infused with a mixture of Cloves, Ginger, Black peppercorns, Cardamom, Lime & Lemon zest. Adding Bay Rum Essential Oil (Pimenta Racemosa), Glycerine and Witch Hazel.
I've still got a small amount of that version left in a hip flask.
For v2 in the photo, I modified the formula, adding Star Anise and Cinnamon back in 2019.

Rex Envoy
Gillette Silver Blue
Stirling Eskimo Tuxedo
APShaveCo Honey Ebonite 26mm with Oumo Manchurian Bulb Knot
Giles Shaving Co Bowl
Snakebite splash
Cool water balm
Cool water EDT

Time for a cooling shave. My wife had woke up early this morning, turned on the heating and went back to bed. By the time I woke up, the house was hot as hades. By the time I had my steaming hot shower I was entirely fed up with heat and decided it was time for a chill.

Enter Stirling Eskimo Tuxedo. I’ve had this stuff for years but haven’t reached for it in a while. It’s the glacial (read Menthol heavy) version of their “Sharp Dressed Man” which is modelled after Green Irish Tweed by Creed. For the other 90s kids among us, you’ll be thinking of that other (much more accessible / ubiquitous) cologne that we wore far too much of - Davidoff Cool Water.

Stirling soaps never provide me anything short of excellent lather, glide and protection. If I weren’t so into the notion of matching fragrances to my mood, I could easily buy a box of unscented Stirling and shave until my twilight years.

The face chill effect from this stuff is extreme. I don’t use it regularly because the cooling can encourage you to be a little more fast and loose with your technique. You just don’t feel any irritation at all past the menthol, no matter what you do.

The scent is wonderful. Light, aquatic, slightly citrussy. It isn’t an exact match for Davidoff Cool Water - in fact I think Stirling did a better job of mimicking Green Irish Tweed than Davidoff did (if that were ever Davidoff’s intention)

Nonetheless, a splash of Snakebite upped the freeze factor, and the Davidoff balm and EDT augmented the fragrance nicely. Suffice it to say, I no longer feel overly hot and muggy.

How was the brush?

A really good, comfortable and close shave this morning. First use of the Chubby 2 synthetic was interesting. The knot is more bulb than fan in shape, unlike the badger Chubby, but the feel of the brush is not so far from a Simpson Chubby in badger on the face. Much better than the synthetic Duke. Well done Simpson (Progress). The Fatboy amazes me every time I use it smooth, quiet, and efficient. An excellent razor.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Morris & Forndran (Brad Sears) Finest Badger
Soap: NOS Haslinger Honig (tallow)
Razor: Blackland Blackbird
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Platinum Swede (6)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, APR Acqua Di Sydney Aftershave Lotion
Scent: Christian Dior Eau Sauvage EdT

Such wonderful soap. It lathers easily, and is very slick indeed. The scent is comforting and not overly sweet.
The vintage Gillette Swede blade is oh so sharp, demanding a light touch, which rewards the user with a superclose and comfortable shave.

Lovely! I think I'll use mine after this evening's shave ...

Mine was darkened with Fujian tea, if you recall and named after the famous Chinese pirate Ching Shih.
