And at the end of this lovely day the theme for my shave this evening was 'Quick, Slick, Schick and other beautiful ladies'
The Slick and the quick - Brass Colonial General
Chic but not shabby - Schick Proline
Schlick chick - Razorock 400
Schnick schnack schnuck - Signature Soaps Hibernian
Some bloody smelly stuff - Alvarez Gomez Barberia
What a lovely day. Spent the afternoon with the in-laws which I know should be illegal but in my case I don't mind being an offender of the unwritten rules. My mother-in-law is a top lady and my father-in-law a Muppet. But you can't have everything. Anyway a very enjoyable afternoon followed by a visit to my niece and the latest family member born yesterday. Baby Isla Grace. Welcome to the world (even though I must apologise for the mess it is in at the moment).
And the shave? Ah yes that little interlude to the day
I have always been a creature of comfort and stuck by what I know works for me. In this case I am thinking towards the Kai Captain as my chosen blade for SE shaving. Previous exploits with the likes of Prolines found me backing down and returning to my Kai safety net. However I have recently adopted 29 Prolines from a very kind forum member and well, why not? Give them a try again. Since shaving with the brass General the first thing I noticed is that it is a little more forgiving than its twisted stainless twin and probably more suited towards a sharper blade. A little pre-shave oil with it being a new blade out of the pack (dispenser, steel box, call it what you like) which is something I have always done with a first timer. My hunch was right. Given the right razor to play its part in and this shave carried real 'wow' value and the Proline producing one of the smoothest, closest shaves of recent times. Well deserving for an Oscar as best supporting actor and very highly rated here in terms of the Colonial brass.
It was also a shave with a return to the Signature Soap's Hibernian just to make sure it was all I said previously. The good news? It is indeed all that and some more. The bad news? There ain't any.
@BrianH has come up with a gem here. He and all three of his other selfs.
I still highly rate the RazoRock 400 and it remains a king of the bargain bucket basement. Super duper stuff from a super duper brush. Love it
So here I am at the end of a lovely day and feeling all lovely shaven, smelling all lovely and Alvarez Gomez Barberianed. Smooth and lush. Which reminds me.......
And who said there are only chicks in America?
