SOTD : Saturday 1st May to Friday 7th May 2021.

Hi Rob

They may be the best smelling soaps in my den. Lather quality is great and easy to produce. I probably wouldn't buy the green again but I'd be happy to walk around with the others taped to my face to enjoy the scent all day long.

Thanks Chris. I did have a sample of one of them years ago and I wasn't impressed (shocker!:p). I might give one of them ago again in the future.

Or you could always be over here where we are starting to enjoy (in a limited way) the joys of a pint outside. And getting wet through to the point where the enjoyment is short lived
Very True mate.
There has been virtually no covid here where i am & all of a sudden it’s absolute carnage
oh well onwards & upwards lol

Roger & Gallet l'Homme aftershave

Great lather, and a few drops of the rose and citrus gave it a wonderful fragrance. I'm still using a bit too much pressure with the razor, but I am getting more used to it.

I really enjoyed that, its always a privilege to use this wonderful piece of shaving engineering. So glad i took the time to clean it up, Internals gunked up with hard soap, it had also been put together incorrectly, so, a little investigation then trial and error to get the mechanism to work. BINGO!
The Vintage cream and brush whipped up clouds of slickness, too much for the required shave, i am not going to say it was a waste as i completed a rinse and face wash with what was left - very nice.
I find the B1 a very efficient fellow so went straight in with a XTG pass, a very gentle touch and good angle cleared away the main of the stubble then an ATG pass to finish - Done!
Achieving a close BBS and comfortable finish with a very nice post shave routine.
1 very happy shaver.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All
A real Classic, very clever operation designed for use outside the Home. I prefer the Type B to the Types C.

SOTD 5th May

Brush - Yaqi Sagrada Familia Tuxedo
Soap - PAA Praise John Frum
Razor - Ever Ready 1914
Blade - Gem Personna SSC #3
Post - Mennen Skin Bracer

Couldn't wait any longer to use this beautiful Ever Ready 1914 recently acquired from BST courtesy of Tony @Tony'schin.
First 2 passes I struggled to find the correct angle, but by the 3rd pass I'd got it. I did notice the top cap is slightly curved whereas my 1912 and Micromatic have pan flat top caps. Still, this is a joy to use and I look forward to continued use in perfecting it's technique. I've got a real soft spot for these vintage Gem style razors.

Stay safe people and enjoy your shaves

French Pink Clay & Charcoal Face Soap
Meissner Tremonia 'Natural Brown' Bitter Almond & Texas Cedar
Semogue SOC Butterscotch (Boar)
Muhle Rocca R95
Treet Platinum (1)
Novaya Zarya Russian Forest Cologne

I started revisiting some blades I used when I first came to traditional shaving to see if I could challenge my memories, assumptions and conclusions, but after last nights absolutely godawful shave with the Personna Med Prep I was in no mood to carry on with that blade, despite my notes saying it will come through by the third shave. Suffice to say, I'm happy to leave my rating of that blade down in the murky depths along with the Astra Platinum, the Muhle and Merkur blades, my conclusion reaffirmed.

I need to reset ...

The more blades I use, the more I start to question certain higher ratings but every time I use a Treet Platinum it really is a top notch shave for me and my shave tonight reset that horrid scratchy regrowth and made everything right with the world. Lovely lather from the Meissner Tremonia pre-market test candidate - a superb scent which did make it to market as Woody Almond but alas the truly fantastic formula did not. Cream on the top came from the Novaya Zarya Russian Forest Cologne, a deep, earthiness and while strongly alcoholic, it does have a good oiliness to it.

Absolutely delightful! My 10/10 shave ... confirmed.
