Post your WASH ROUTINE/PRODUCTS!

I am starting this thread as I don't think the importance of a shower/wash, especially pre shave can be understated. If and what you wash your face with before a shave is directly linked to the quality of said shave, so a bit like shave of the day where people share what they use, let's discuss what we all wash with and what our opinions of each product are. Never know, might learn something interesting!

What's your daily wash routine, what products do you use and if there's any specifics/extras you incorporate to a wash before a shave then what are they?

I'll go first:

General Soap/Shower Gel: Mitchell's Wool Fat Original Bar Soap
Shampoo: Head & Shoulders Men Ultra Old Spice Infused
Specific Face Washes: Clearasil Gentle Skin Perfecting Wash / Clearasil Rapid Action Scrub

My exact routine I am trying to perfect, but currently in a hot shower I will wash my hair with any random shampoo, don't really care what it is although that may change... I then wash all over from face down with a nice bar soap, been through Wrights Coal Tar, Dove Beauty Cream Bar and now using Mitchell's Wool Fat Original Soap. I will then use clearasil Gentle skin perfecting wash on my face and neck only. It contains salicylic acid to help clean out the pores but also aloe and moisturising stuff so doesn't leave me dried out.

That's my every day routine, and I shower once in the morning, and usually in the evening after work. I am washing twice a day to try and help clear up my spot prone skin somewhat and it's working a treat.

Every other day, I will swap out the Clearasil gentle skin perfecting wash with Clearasil rapid action scrub which exfoliates real good.

I will always shave immediately after a shower and this is usually every 2 days, so 3 or 4 times a week. The only pre shave product I use is proraso green cream which goes on whilst I make up my lather.

I use L'Occitane Extra Gentle Shea Milk Soap which is gentle enough for face and body. I wanted to get reduce the amount of plastic I use so it works great for me. Most bar soaps dried my skin out but this is a lovely quality soap. At the moment I'm using Mg Thickening Caffeine Shampoo by Trevor Sorbie which my niece gave me for a joke, usually any shampoo does the job for me as I have a grade 2 on my noggin.

Have to agree on the shampoo front, grade 3 on my head over here so I could probably wash it with bar soap.:p

Pears soap always with plenty hot water, a couple of drops of argon oil rubbed into my wet face and let it sit for a min or two, them prorasso green , another min or so then shave.

I shave before work, and shower after. The only time I shower before I shave is when I go out on weekends.
I try to match my soap and shampoo with my a/s and cologne. If it is humid, I use a soft soap/bodywash with a soft, plush
washcloth. If it's dry, I use a bar soap with a rough, scratchy washcloth (for exfoliation).
Since it's winter my matchups are as follows:
Musk scent with honey soap and shampoo.
Bay Rum scent with coconut soap and shampoo.
Oriental scent with Old Spice soap and shampoo.

I use a variety of products. Make that an ARSENAL! Lately I have been using Eucerin Advanced Face & Body Cleanser for my in shower pre-shave facial wash. On the days I use a scrub it's Olay Total Effects 7 In One scrub which is superb. After shaving I reenter the shower and as of late my preferred post-shave facial cleanser is the French Bioderma Sebium gel. Really works well on oily skin as where I live it is usually hot & humid and one sweats buckets. After drying off I go over my entire face with some sort of salicylic acid toner with a cotton pad as it prevents ingrown hairs via chemical exfoliation and also erases fine lines/wrinkles. When it's really hot I will slap a bit of 2.5% benzoyl peroxide on my T-Zone after the toner dries as even at my age I can get some forehead sweat acne in the prickly heat as it's that bad here.

Lately I have been playing with Niacinamide and like it for the most part. It goes on after the toner dries. I am also trying a new 2.5% benzoyl peroxide that includes hyaluronic acid within and so far (knock on wood) it's great. We are so fortunate to live in a time where there are so many new & exciting skin care products!! I love reading the reviews and opinions on some of the new & novel stuff.

Pre-shave, I just use soap ... I'm sold on the benefits of clays and charcoal, and enjoy soaps with these in. No specific brand, but I do like handmade. Simple soap.

Bath soap, I like MWF. Again, simple soap. Actually, at the moment, I'm using up a lovely Orange & Patchouli "Shaving Soap" which turned out to be all froth and no suitable lather, but it's a nice soap for bathing. In the shower, I have a bit more room and like Aleppo Soap (15% Laurel) with "a good gloving"

I went through a phase of enjoying Hammam style Black Olive Soap and still have some kicking about. I also used it on my face for a while as I have really good/oily skin and prefer to feel drier; oil dissolves oil theory kinda worked but face feel ended up a bit plastic-feeling, like a waterproof sheen.

Pre-shave, I gave Ach Brito Glyce a good run. While I found it a really excellent pre-shave soap, softening the bristles in a quite amazing way, long-term I found that softer hair had a greater chance of ended up as irritable ingrowers. Younger folks might take to it very well, but I think when hair changes from coloured to white, there are consistency changes as well.

Just for allez-up and outta here L'Oreal Men Expert (the orange one) suits me nicely, giving me a wake-up, fresh feeling and a good tautness/dryness that I like.

Sometimes, I'll splash some rose water on my face before bed. Simple rose water from the supermarket - KTC brand, like 50p for 200ml. I've said it before: rose water is rose water is rose water. No point paying "artisinal" prices for rose water. My only other skin treatment is raw birch tar (heavy in salicylic acid), which I'll pop a drop onto any area post-shave that feels like and ingrower and leave it for an hour or so.

PRE
1. Small amount of hot water on top of shaving soap
2. Give face a good wash with soap whilst showering (TK Maxx or Homesense typically have a good selection of high quality soaps)
3. Use water on top of soap as a sort of prep... but then a little dab of The Groom Room's Prep Plus or Razorine Eucalyptus Pre-Shave

I've used multiple pre-shave products over the years. Don't like oil when using a brush, but I might use it when I shave with a cartridge razor in a hotel. I do like these two - a little goes a long way and I can detect a slight improvement.

POST
1. Cold water splash to remove remaining soap residue followed by a sweep with alum bar
2. Cold water splash to remove alum residue
3. After - Shave lotion
4. Balm

Currently using Grey Flannel ASL followed by Cremo ASB

Lidl Pure unscented bar for everything, including hair, rotating with Irish Spring bath soap.

Hot water+3p shave soap face lather with the Omega 102 or 49.

Aftershave: at the moment it's Consul and Forest Fresh in rotation.
