Wax 'Fisherman' hat is my other one looks much like a Tilley and has stayed waterproof so far.
I'm a fairly easy going chap but I'm not sure I'd give an English Hater my custom, the Dutch usually like us any wayI have a two flat caps, one bought in The Hat Shop - York, and another from The English Hater in Amstelveen, Netherlands. No idea of the makers. I am definitely checking out Kempadoo Millar and Lawrence & Foster. My last Panama was a Failsworth, as I have boxed up my other two. This winter I used a Cashmere beeny instead of my flat caps.

Notwithstanding, the English Hatter has a wide selection of hats and excellent wool socks among other things. Service also is excellent.I'm a fairly easy going chap but I'm not sure I'd give an English Hater my custom, the Dutch usually like us any way

I tried to make an appointment for Kempadoo Millar, but without success, for Saturday. I even popped in on the way to the Bradford Dragonboat race festival, but they were closed. Today, I made an appointment with Lawrence & Foster. It's really just entering a factory, choosing a style and the fabric. I went for a local Abraham Moon cloth. It would appear some of the Kempadoo Millar products are made by Lawrence & Foster. They also do CMT/ Cut Make Trim. You supply the material. It should arrive by the weekend.I have a two flat caps, one bought in The Hat Shop - York, and another from The English Hatter in Amstelveen, Netherlands. No idea of the makers. I kind of fancied myself when I strolled along la Promenade des Anglais wearing it.
...looks terrificI did it, finally...
...looks terrific
I bought a flat cap today, £3.99 from Aldi. Both fruit of loin are utterly mortified. Job done.
As Kipling said ‘only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun'.After some solar skin damage on my baldy heid I seldom venture out without a covering, on Doctor's advice. Don't have a flat cap I fear Nisse, however my favourite head gear is a nicely shaped Breton cap from Nauticalia whivh can be smart or casual depending on whether I'm wearing a windcheater or a reefer jacket. Greatly underestimated in my view, a nice cap/hat you like.

Have a place ‘round here that makes bespoke hats. Summertime for me, nothing quite as stylish as a summer suitI got a straw fedora from the States -- the brim turns down a bit so doesn't look like a Park Ranger/Drill Instructor hat made of straw like most Panamas.
Extra, extra, read all about it!They look good if you're 10 years old.
