Odd design

Erik Anton Berg Eskilstuna: Anyone familiar with this type of spine design? supposed to have won a gold medal of some sort in Paris 1900.

I have seen one like this once before... Not 100% certain it's identical but basically It came with two "cages" - One like that pictured which was for use as a standard straight and another larger cage which extended right down to the blade edge, effectively transforming it into a sort of safety straight razor.

A safety razor sort of open comb cage, maybe that is explaining marks near edge.
