Having taken some advice from you guys I thought I'd share a little bit of my experiences of being a new DE wet shaver.
It was all a bit of a palaver to start with.
I purchased a random razor from eBay and a load of different blades.
With advice and some trial and error I seem to have landed on my feet.
My set up is :
Misc razor from eBay
Astra Superior Stainless blades
Palmolive shave cream
Wilkinson Sword random brush bought on the high street
Nivea post shave balm
Dove hydrate moisturiser
After practicing my lathering technique and with helpful advice and youtube videos I seem to be getting the Palmolive into a beautiful creamy lather.
Shaving has got easier and closer too.
I've also used far less pressure and whilst it's taking longer (I do two passes), the results are not only lovely and close but my skin looks so much better.
I've always used balm and moisturiser afterwards but now I'm putting them onto receptive skin rather than irritated skin.
I have received a couple of comments from people saying how my face looks fresher and clearer.
So I wanted to say thank you to those that gave me some advice and to any other newbies out there, stick with it. The lathering is important to get the right consistency but boy is it worth it.
And if you're lucky like me, your skin will glow too !!!
