New Black Label Blades

For injectors only.

By looking at the blade corner in the photo these are surely not rebranded Schick Proline blades. They say these are made in Japan so they are not Chinese "Chick' either. Gonna have to try one.

Hopefully not - those blades are naff

Thanks for the heads-up! An interesting blade I'd like to try one day.

In other news: I'm so tired of this never-ending "800 years of Japanese metallurgical tradition" BS.
Their own metallurgy starts with the arrival of English and German specialists in the late XIXth century.
Before that - mostly Chinese products and odd European pieces (like those funny pre-Tokugawa Portuguese breastplates they passed from generation to generation). Rant mode off.

Hold onto your hat as it gets better. After ordering a ctg. of 8 blades ($14.02 U.S. including tax & shipping, or 10.52 GBP) I sent an e-mail in panic mode to Supply re the blade origins and that indeed if they are NRK to cancel said order. This is the reply I received with my added color emphasis:

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to hear that you're concerned about our blade quality. The only person who knows the specific details of our partnership is our CEO, so I can't confirm where our blades are (or are not) made.

My suggestion would be to keep the order as is and try the blades for yourself. You're always welcome to return them for a full refund if you don't like them.

For what it's worth, the blades have been in development for over 2 years - and rated extremely favorably in extensive user testing with hundreds of Supply customers. Any rumors as to who makes them - or the quality of the shave they give - would be complete conjecture.

I really hope you love them as much as we do - but if you don't I'll stand by to process a complete refund for you.

Since I am the OP I am going to veer off course a little into the weeds as Vates is on track here. I remember the post-WWII BS where a Japansese officer purportedly cut a machine gun barrel in two with a samurai sword!! Absolute Moroccan leather bound and gilded BS.

The movie The Last Samurai just fueled that BS even more and despite the glaring historical error that it was Prussian military advisors who were in Japan in that period and not some drunken "has been" U.S. Cavalry officer as portrayed by Cruise.

Always remember that the lowest paying jobs in Hollywood are for an historian or a physicist. ;)

Well, incredibly the mag arrived today and I used one, BUT I had to extract one blade & xfer to a real metal "Chick" mag that I use as the Black Label mag is cheap plastic and about a half rung harder than Play-Doh. The "tongue" is plastic as well and to be frank the mag is as worthless as a kickstand on a tank. I sensed a foreboding feeling as a result.

I proceeded to load it in a G Model Schick as it is the most commonly used IMO and is rather benign. The blade shaved IMO exactly like a Personna hair shaper/Ted Pella blade. Not a bad shave, nor a great shave. Now for the big reveal: I used my new sample of B&M Mélange in their new super base Omnibus. Incredible soap, but Mélange smells like a Marrakesh Hashish house on inventory day!!

My blade rating: not worth a buy. (n)

P.S. "Thank you Bogeyman for "jumping on the grenade for the platoon""!!" You are most welcome.
