Lime Cream Fans Unite

Finished my Proraso Azur Lime cream and can’t really add anything to my thoughts a few posts back. Performs well, but the scent does make me wonder how they can actually put ‘Lime’ in the name. As with most creams, it lasted around 6 months of shaving solely with it every 2-3 days. Also I tend to use a little more than I need to, so it may last longer for other people, especially with the size of that bag. Not sure I’d buy it again, just because there’s already a few I prefer and want to try more out for the first time too. Anyway, next up, one I’ve wanted to try for a while:

Executive Shaving Citrus Kiss
Cream is quite gloopy in texture, like that of a cake mixture. Not a fan of the tin though and the bottom wasn’t completely flat, so I’ve already decanted it into my favourite type of cream container, the nice round screw top tubs with good grip round the lids that the likes of GFT & TOBS use. It smells nice and I’m looking forward to using it so will report back

Citrus Kiss is nice and the ESC creams perform very well.

Finished my Executive Shaving Citrus Kiss cream. Pleasant lime & lemon smell. Easy to work with due to how gloopy it is. If anything it’s slightly too much so, and it’s easy to take more than you need, which I guess is why it lasted me just 4 months, rather than the usual 5-6 months. Still, a quality cream that I would most certainly use again. Next up is this:

Piccadilly Shaving Co. Lime
Courtesy of Santa, in a nice black 180ml tub. Can’t wait to get stuck in. Another one to tick off the list. Also featured is my homemade Jagermeister LED Xmas bottle.

I've just had another look at your original picture of your Citrus Kiss cream. I see what you mean by gloopy. My ESC creams look different to that. I think you'll find your next one will be less gloopy - more akin to your new PSC one. I got some St James of London creams for Christmas that I'm looking forward to trying. Same consistency and glass jar as my ESC creams. I suspect they're both made by Creighton but this is no bad thing.

I'd agree about Creightons - apart from anything else, there aren't that many British companies with the capacity to turn out that amount of shaving products. They used to sell the St James range on their own website but that hasn't been the case for some time. They still have the T&H no.10 line listed which they also produce. I've not doubt they make a lot of other stuff that they aren't allowed to admit to. I.

No post for nearly a year in here. I was meant to put this up in July but never got around to it. It was meant to be an outgoing / incoming pic, but the delay means I’m almost through them both. Will post what’s up next when it arrives. . .

Piccadilly Shaving Co. Lime
Very nice pleasant lime scent, from memory similar to TOBS Lime Zest in most respects. Generous 180ml tub, would use again for sure.

Alexander Simpson Lime Ultra-Glide
Really great performance and lime scent, from memory similar in scent to Executive Shaving Citrus Kiss, but less gloopy in its consistency, which I liked. Again, generous 180ml tub, and again another one I’d repeat buy.

Lime for life!

Can you describe the scent of the Simpsons Lime?

Big lime shaving cream fan here. Other fans, please speak up and share your lime faves. I honestly think I could use lime creams for the rest of my life.

Chances are there're not all available easily in the UK anyway but just trying to narrow down my choice of which lime cream or two to try next. Thoughts on the following (and any I've missed) please:

GF Trumper extract of lime
TOBS - lemon & lime
Crabtree & Evelyn west indian lime
Edwin Jagger pomegranates & lime
Piccadilly lime
Executive Shaving citrus kiss
Vulfix Sicilian lime
Kiss My Face key lime
Simpsons citrus burst
Queen Charlotte (QCS) key lime
Cyril Salter lime
Captains Choice lime
Mystic Water lime
Razorock King of the castle lime oil

Thanks.

Hi there,

My daughter uses TOBS, AOS, and other creams for leg shaving (her own legs I believe) and she's partial to frag notes like citrus and woody and floral types which are prevalant and made by various companies.

Your long list of lime options is gonna have a LOT of interpretations of that scent and also if EO or FO is used, not to mention any lime 'blends'. Same with lots of fragrances, every maker has their own take on sandalwood for example and the huffing range is nuts.

Anyway, I bought 5 different EOs from a company I like dealing with, along with an unscented tub of AOS and a small silver spoon for mixing. Lime's her favorite scent and the single note is what she likes. Castle Forbes had a similar smell to my nose. I also got some cinnamon and vanilla and cedar and lemon, and these pure oils can also be burned in her diffuser, which is handy.

Dat's an option, yeah, dat's an option,

Martin

What about The Traditional Shaving Company Limes Luxury Shaving Cream? A friend just ordered some and reviews are scarce.

Should finally be trying this shortly. Ordered one last year from eBay which never arrived & was refunded. Had to go into town & buy a tub of T&H WIL in desperation. I mean I like the stuff, but the whole point of this is me trying out a different lime cream each time for a good while, so it was disappointing I didn’t get to tick this one off. A little expensive for a smallish tub, £15 with postage for 100ml, but just want to try it.
