I know the Classic has been a popular model on here, I'm looking to do the OPV mod to my machine. Just wondering if anyone has a gauge setup I could borrow please?
It must have been more than 10+ years ago I put this together - I don't remember any easily available ready to go ones from back then. Had my knowledge of plumbing fittings been better I might have done it straight off the pf can't really remember why it was done this way! [EDIT: the stock Rancilio pf at that time had a notch in the pf body itself that prevented a complete seal at the spout knew there was a reason]
Nice use of blanking plate, I had no idea what you'd come up with. I don't have one for a gaggia I'm afraid but tbh as suggested the bits are so cheap nowadays it's hardly worth the cost of sending or you could ask on coffeeforumUK.
Yeah I'm confused about sizes, it appears people are stepping down form 3/8 to 1/8 but I'm unsure why if you can get a direct attachment? Presumably I just need some PTFE tape to seal it up?
If your standard PF without a basket fitted will seal against the group gasket, one of these looks decent. I can't comment on its compatibility though that looks like a Gaggia classic in the photo:
I've only just looked so don't take my word for it having said that it won't look pretty but I don't think there is a huge amount of thread on the filter but with enough PTFE you should be okay screwing it straight on.
Phil's suggestion is obviously built for the job then again you'll probably only use it once. If know anyone with a engine compression tester you'd only require a coupling.
