â€As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangsterâ€.
Let's go back
You don't go back
McCafferty your teas out...
The best play that ever hit the BBC...JUST A BOYS GAME
I had just moved to Scotland from Germany at 14 yo just after this was shown and everyone was saying "mcCaferty yer teas oot." I thought it was just a Scottish thing. Never seen the film till about 4 or 5 years ago at a mates house. Had a grin from ear to ear when he said it.
They live!
Love this film. John Carpenter is one of my all time favourite directors; he might not be the greatest director of all time but some of his films seem to bring me more pleasure than many other great directors, 'The Thing' & 'Big Trouble in Little China' in particular.

I know, quoting my own post. It was on again last night as part of BBC play for today and I bloody loved it, as good and gritty as I remember.( rab c nesbit was in it) That's when bbc made telly worth watching. Yes I have it on series record.
I think the straight acting of Rap C Nesbit is just terrific, it shows the dexterity of the his talent, which was rarely utilised in straight roles after he moved to comedy and he certainly had the looks when he was younger as well. I suspect there were so few opportunities for Scots actors; the fact that he still rose to the top is some achievement...
