Your James Bond, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Who

Capaldi and Whittaker both missed the mark if you ask me.

James Bond : Sir Roger Moore (Dalton a very close second)

Sherlock Holmes : The only Sherlock Holmes i've ever seen coincidentally was Roger Moore

Doctor Who : Peter Davidson. My favourite though usually flips between Davidson and David Tennant. Havent watched Doctor Who since Tennant left though so cant comment on who came after.

James Bond...Sean Connery for the time......Daniel Craig for an unto date Bond....I never rated Roger Moore as Bond, too many throw away one liners...Brosnan, just not cruel enough looking...

Sherlock Holmes...That just has to be Basil Rathbone with the inimitable Nigel Bruce as Watson....The acting and script is dated to the point of being laughable, but I still watch the old black and whites now and again when the mood takes me...
Benedict Cumberbatch started off well, but they turned the series into a rather silly, slap stick comedy for some reason best known to themselves, and made it quite unwatchable......I never saw the last few episodes they were just getting dafter and dafter towards the end..

Dr Who....Not something I ever watched.

James Bond - Sir Roger. Connery's first couple of movies were the best, most realistic to me, but I've always
seen him as more rough-cut. A tough guy Scotsman, not a suave, sophisticated Englishman.
By the time Roger got the part, the character was changed for the times.
The movie with the Aussie was a good one, he just wasn't excepted by the fans.

Sherlock Holmes - No question, Basil Rathbone. He was great in everything.

Dr. Who - Tom Baker. Is anyone else even close? The perfect Dr. for the times.
He was also excellent as Rasputin.
Looked like my friends dad.

Bond was supposed to be rough-cut, he was based on a composite of commandos that Fleming had met. Bond also had a Scottish father and attended school in Scotland. The reason Craig's suit was over-tailored in Casino Royale was to create the impression that he wasn't comfortable wearing one, unfortunately it does seem to have led to a trend of suits that look like they shrunk in the wash.
