Just an update from this sale http://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/forum/thread-24245.html

Since receiving the Gaggia I first tested it and the symptoms were indeed a broken pump so I ordered one off the Bay £16 delivered.
I stripped it down and got to work cleaning it. It looked as though it had seen a fair bit of work but was remarkably clean of scale.
Couple of hours with a brass brush it was gleaming. When I stripped the solenoid valve I found it gummed up with black 'stuff' it was stuck fast. A good clean and it was free again.

I re assembled it and thought "lets give it a try" it was working again perfectly! it wasn't the pump at all ;)
Anyway I stuck the new pump in when it came and then done the OPV mod, a BIG thanks to Jody Press who was just down the road from me. He lent me his pressure gauge. Sorted!
Then on to Happy Donkey for the tamper, non pressurised baskets & stainless milk jug.
Next... Onto eBay for the Silvia steaming wand.
Monday this week I was about to pull the trigger on a Iberital MC2 off the Donkey but searched eBay before... result one had just been listed and it was 1/2 hour drive away.
Deal done for £85 :D

Anyway, this was destined for the office but, well it's staying home with me!
I must add... All the gear and not a clue, but I am improving ;)

Almost identical to my first espresso setup. Well chosen great combo for not much £. Enjoy!

Can I ask which tamper you bought? I have a classic and I'm still using the rubbish plastic one. Ideally I would like one that fits snuggly, so that I can tamp the coffee in one press.

Could try one if these. I believe Classics are 58 mm

Thanks Ollie

Really good prices there.

Looking good. So glad it went to someone who cares. I de-scaled religiously every 3 months. Keep practicing and you'll get those God-Shots.

All the best

Neil
