Thank you all for your birthday wishes, unfortunately today (wed) I am going into Hospital, I usually go in every three months, but somehow I dodged a bullet for a while. I had a clinic appointment last week and they wanted me in, so I worked out my usual deal :) ...as I need a main line put in my upper arm, and the waiting list is around 3 days, I seen no point hanging about in there for 3 days...so tomorrow at 14:00 I go to get my line in then straight up to the ward...As I am a " Regular" I am well known and I get away with murder ;)
Hopefully not longer than a week then I get sent home with huge boxes of meds to do my own iv's at home ( you do get training) it gets you out of hospital but it still interferes with your day to day life having to create a sterile environment 3 times a day and all at quite strict times...again tho...better than being in, the food is really terrible and I eat in the restaurant as many times as I can, In the past I have photographed some of the food and posted it online to let ppl try guess what it is...it really is that bad, you English fellows don't know how lucky you are with your NHS. I have Cystic Fibrosis and now Respiratory Failure, I have been on home oxygen 24/7 for just over a year now, and am a LOT worse with my breathing, a flight of stairs is very difficult...but our bathroom is at the top...and that's when I can relax and have my shaves :) I am not complaining...just giving a small insight into my life you might never have guessed. Anyway, Depending on my ward, it will make or break if I get a good wifi connection, so if I am not around it hopefully is because I have a poor connection and hopefully not that I have " Croaked"...so what you up to today :) :) :)

Picc line is just a iv line put in to allow meds to be injected without having to have a nee inj 3 times a day. I generally get 2 weeks worth of iv's and then the line is removed. Picc line, midline and long line all do the same job but the picc sits just off your heart, they position it and xray it to make sure it is sitting where it needs to be.
