Yaqi Synthetic Brushes

I'm the proud owner of 7 Yaqi brushes. All purchased purely on how they look. Had I known there was more to the fibres (as per Donnie's post), I would have planned my purchases better.

Fortunately, you can never have too much shaving paraphernalia!

Care to share your thoughts on each of them so that others looking to buy can make a more informed choice?

I'll get a picture of them lined up later today and have a go at a crude review. There's some better details in my SOTDs but I mostly know my favourites of them.

When it comes to Yaqi brushes, I think the most important thing are the actual loft heights and glue bumps. IMO those details are the most important aspects in writing a review!

I've just taken ownership of a Yaqi 24mm red marble tuxedo synth. Whips up a lather in no time. Compared to the RazoRocks, it is a bit ‘springier'; but (that's) only after one outing. 3 bristles lost; but probably loose at time of build. Very pleased so far.

These are the brushes I have. I must confess to having bought them based solely on the looks rather than knowing anything about the glue bumps and fibre types. My three favourite are the 30mm monster (end right), 26mm timber wolf (third on right) and the 24mm Familia Sagrada (middle).

Donnie, allowing for some manufacturing differences, are the glue bumps the same for each type? By that I mean a timber wolf would have the same bump across all knot sizes and handles?

Maybe the photo below would be useful for identifying the fibre/bump types and how they behave?

Nice collection of synths! I have 2 of those, second from left and second from right. I'd not seen the one third from the left before, it's actually one of their best looking brushes.

The glue bumps seem to vary from brush to brush, but I think they have stopped making them with huge ones like they did in their early days. It's quite easy to measure, I use a piece of card to find the centre of the brush then measure from there to the base of the knot.

As for fibres, Yaqi only use different types but dyed different colours. One which is used synthetic horse (same as Rainbow) & the black fibre, and one for the all the others (Plissoft, Tuxedo, Timberwolf etc).

Tbh, I can't really tell the difference when using the brushes for face feel. I still think density, loft height and glue bump are more significant.

I have just purchased two brushes ,ordered Sunday evening arrived Friday ( China to UK) ,can't fault the speed of delivery ,quality is excellent as is price ..

For UK buyers have a look on eBay the seller is nice4shaves, i have purched 4 from him, prices are good and no waiting for Aliexpress

I have the Mysterious Space 26mm synthetic, its superb, i bought our three boys the syntheic 26mm Timber Wolf, they love them.

Off topic have a look at the Yaqi store on Aliexpress, there is a Tech style head in various finishes, well worth trying i have not seen them anywhere else.

My Timber Wolf, inspired by this thread, arrived yesterday. I think I need to give it more time before giving a considered opinion. After two shaves I can't quite believe how good it is though . Amazing value for money too.

I am really impressed with these new synthetic knots. Really easy to build lather.
