I steamed out the knot in a Razorrock Synthetic a couple of years ago and the steam melted the glue that held the bristles together and all the bristles fell out.
Never had that problem with badger or boar knots using the same methid.

I've purposely avoided shorter loft YaQi brushes due to the possibility of the glue bump making them unusableI have 4 Yaqi brushes and each one has near enough exact a loft which is 4mm shorter than advertised and a knot width 2mm wider.
2 of the brushes are great as they have reasonable glue bumps, and the other 2 have very large and significant ones to the extent where they aren't very pleasurable to use.
